It’s incredibly tough when things take a turn for the worse just as they were starting to look up, and today’s story features a hero who experienced just that.
March, a Pitbull mix, was ecstatic when he learned that his time at ACCT Philly was over and a better life awaited him. Sadly, his joy was short-lived as his adoption fell through unexpectedly, and he had to return to the Philadelphia city shelter.
Tough Luck
This sudden change took a toll on poor March. Back in his kennel, he fell ill and became despondent, retreating from the world and staring at the shelter walls.
However, fate was about to smile on him.
Local news reporter Dawn Timmeney noticed March’s sadness and isolation, prompting her to take action.
She shared March’s story on her Facebook page, highlighting what an amazing dog he was:
“…I’d be a great running buddy. Imagine all the compliments you’ll get when people say, “Where’d you get that great-looking dog?” Bring the family down for a meet-and-greet, and who knows… I could be running with you before March turns to April.”
The post quickly went viral, bringing some good news.
ACCT Philly announced on their Facebook page that March had been saved!
New Beginning
While he hadn’t found a forever home, March was transferred to a rescue partner who preferred to remain anonymous. ACCT Philly assured everyone that March would be put up for adoption through their no-euthanasia shelter.
March was overjoyed at the news, eager to embark on a new life filled with love, cuddles, and belly rubs.
This was not just a win for March but also for the shelter, as they now had an empty kennel ready to house another animal in need.
Final Word
According to ASPCA, approximately 3.1 million dogs enter shelters across the U.S. every year. With this in mind, shelters require all the space and support they can get. Please consider visiting your local shelter to bring a smile to the dogs in need by adopting them or simply spending time with them until they find their forever homes.
